REALLY GOOD WORK

KARLA HILLAM

MATT PAINE

Recently an actor new to The Rehearsal Room told me he had found this clip online and thought it was REALLY GOOD.  I’ve just been to have a look.  I agree.

KARLA HILLAM and MATT PAINE have both done terrific work in our feature film ‘Rhyme and Reason’.  Here they are in a MASTER CLASS Workshop scene (probably) in November 2011.

At some other classes around Melbourne actors can work on one scene for a whole term.  At The Rehearsal Room actors work at being fast and efficient – here actors shoot a new scene each class.  These actors had done a cold read of the scene the week before then worked on this scene together only on the night of the class.  The scene was prepared and shot (one take only) within the space of an hour and a quarter at the most.

The work is impressively good.  They ease into the scene via an improvisation and ease out of it the same way.  The relaxed way the actors handle the dialogue and the clear dramatic shape of the scene is excellent.

Well done, Karla and Matt.

THE NEXT TERM OF CLASSES AT THE REHEARSAL ROOM COMMENCES FROM 8th OCTOBER 2012.
