A NEW TERM OF EVENING CLASSES START on MONDAY 12th JULY. ENROL NOW!

2nd Term Finishes
All the evening classes have finished for this term. Casting Director Nick Hamon attended the final night of the Level 1 Advanced Workshop providing information and tips to the actors about his view of the casting process.
Always practical and informative Nick also gave each actor a general audition and listed them on his casting files. Doing a general audition is a special skill in itself and exploring general audition process is the final exercise in the Level 1 Advanced Workshop. The actors who participated in this workshop put an enormous amount of effort into expanding their listening and impulse skills through Rehearsal Room repetition exercises.

TV Director Richard Jasek finished off the term for the Level 2 Advanced Workshop. This was also an exciting night. Actors spent up to 20 minutes in the audition room with Richard energetically exploring their scenes. Richard was impressed with the versatility of the actors and the strong ability to make large changes quickly. He also commented on the significant improvement he saw in the work of actors he had met previously. A clear vote of confidence in the value of a good performance process. Richard Jasek's most recent credits include McLeod's Daughters, Blue Heelers and a number of children's shows for Jonathan Shiff Productions. Richard is a talented actor friendly director.

NEW ON THE WEBSITE - Part Three of Interview with 'Getaway' reporter Jules Lund (innovative use of story) - Director's Notes a different look at the pursuit of excellence.

The Monologue

VCE students will be interested to hear that The Rehearsal Room (with Rod Winning from Mystical Dog Productions) is producing a DVD and video on monologue and solo performance. It is planned that the finished product will be ready for release in November. Although shooting is not yet complete the early stages of editing are underway.

LAST DROP-IN FRIDAY
This Friday 2nd June will be the last 'Drop-in Evening'. Despite many enthusiastic voices supporting the concept not enough actors have used the opportunity to make it worthwhile continuing. So this last Drop-in-Friday is for free. Want to try a monologue or a scene, a stand-up routine or song, come along and share it - 7pm, The Rehearsal Room this Friday 2nd July.

A Big Story Adventure
The opportunity to have a series concept pitched at the start of the publishing season in the US was too good to pass up. So over the last six weeks The Rehearsal Room has been working flat out to create a pilot script for the series "Just Desserts". This was a new concept which had been developed over the last two years. First time series writer Patrick Sarell was enlisted to provide a script from the concept created by Denis Meehan, Darren Mort and Richard Sarell. Patrick opted for an adventurous approach to the pushing the potential for fantasy elements. These adventures were edited by the series creators and the script is now somewhere in Los Angeles awaiting its fate. (Many thanks to those who participated in a read-through of the text on the eve of its submission.)
