Off-Cut Twenty Five

Overnight success is not reality - as proven by these three famous examples

How long does it take?

Think about this!

Dustan Hoffman was born in 1937.
Dustan's first credit is in "The Tiger Makes Out" in 1967.
The credit for which he is known is The Graduate also in 1967.
This means Dustin was 30 when he had his big break.

Harrison Ford was born in 1942.
Yes, his first film credit was in 1966 (at age 24) but have you ever heard of "Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round".
Star Wars was 1977.
This means Harrison was 35 when he had his big break.

Nigel Hawthorne was born in 1929.
His first film role was in 1972 (at age 43) as an uncredited sentry in "Young Winston". According to Nigel Hawthorne (interviewed "Parkinson" March 2001) "Yes, Minister" was the TV series which made him famous.

As a young man Nigel had difficulty in being cast "Because I didn't look right, people didn't use me", he said. Therefore he found he was just going around in circles trying to find a way in.

Of course, he had been acting on stage for many years but Nigel was 50 when he started in "Yes, Minister".

ARE YOU 18 AND WONDERING WHEN YOUR CHANCE WILL COME?
