Off Cut Forty In an interview with Stephanie Bunbury printed in The Age 7th April 2001 (and just discovered by TRR) CLIVE OWEN - Vroom, Close My Eyes, Second Sight, Croupier, Gosford Park - revealed that The director of "The Croupier" Mike Hodges made CLIVE OWEN learn all the voice over monologues by heart instead of simply reading come time to record them. He then delivered the voice over lines standing at the roulette table. CLIVE OWEN was quoted as saying , "It's pretty key when you look at the film you get the feeling you are in the guys thoughts." Mike Hodges obviously didn't want reading conventions to influence the performance. An interesting performance orientated choice.
