Because Rehearsal
Room workshops have a clearly identified performance process they make it easy for actors to improve
their performance choices. This enables the actor
to identify and remedy problems efficiently and effectively. The
Rehearsal Room process makes actors better auditioners and therefore
improves the chances of employment.
This workshop explores the fundamentals
of good performance process. It is a clear and simple view of the
Stanislavski approach, useful both as a refresher (for the experienced
actor) or as an introduction to performance process.
|
One aim of these sessions is for actors to experience similar conditions to being on a set. |
|
The focus of these workshops is television but its application is universal.
It explores - how to create the image of a complex character, identifying
subtext, labelling the story, being spontaneous, building trust, active
listening, defeating tension, how to play surprises, how to prepare
for a take and what the camera really sees - plus much more. The
final on camera exercise is a practice audition. Click

RICHARD PERDRIAU, KATE MURRAY and KARLA HERSCHELL (March 2013) |
|
These actors are exploring techniques that are invaluable when engaged in a 3-hander. Classes at The Rehearsal Room prepare actors to cope with a variety of circumstances and conditions when working professionally. No other class in Melbourne has so many techniques that prepare an actor to cope with working on a professional set. The techniques produce effective, efficient and flexible actors.
|
RICHARD PERDRIAU an award winning music theatre director is not only building his acting skills but also learning valuable directing techniques.
|
|
|
You learn a LOT in these classes. There's a heap of very practical theory that is clearly explained and you are well supported in your application of the techniques. The maximum class size is 8 - this group in October 2012 was lucky, there were only 6 actors this evening. You get MUCH more one-on-one attention here than in any other classes and there's much less waiting around. Actors are on their feet acting in every session.
